The wide-ranging span of the Humanities provides the finest range of approaches and methodologies to explore the multiplicity of voices and visions throughout the world. HERA seeks your contributions concerning the explorations of identity within any aspect of the Humanities. The 2017 HERA Conference theme is intentionally seeking disciplinary, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary scholarship exploring voice and vision from the local to the global.

The Westgate Hotel

Located at 1055 Second Avenue, San Diego,California. Reservations: 1.800. 522.1564.

The Westgate is the perfect place to explore San Diego. It is located across the street from the San Diego Civic Theatre with the Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy just steps away from the hotel. The blue and green trolley lines are in the Civic Center and provide transportation to Tijuana and Coronado Island!

 

HOTEL RESERVATIONS:
The guest room rate is $153.
          
Please make your hotel registrations one of two ways:
           1. On our website’s link to The Westgate Hotel’s dedicated HERA website; or
           2. Directly with the hotel by phone at (800-522-1564) and mention that you want the HERA rate of $153.
Make these reservations as early as possible to receive the discounted rate. The Westgate Hotel requires that you make your reservations by 02/07/2017. Your credit card will be charged in advance for the first night. However, hotel cancellations made at least 72 hours (3 days) before your arrival night are fully refundable. The $153 rate is applicable 3 days before and 3 days after the conference based on availability.

TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation to the hotel:
A taxi ride from either the San Diego International Airport or the Amtrak Train Depot to The Westgate Hotel is reasonable. Westgate guest Services Department can assist you with your transportation needs, please contact them at (619) 238-1818.

Driving Directions to the Hotel:
From San Diego International Airport:
Exit airport and follow signs to Downtown (east on Harbor Drive). Turn left onto Broadway, follow Broadway nine blocks to Second Avenue. Turn left on Second Avenue. The Westgate Hotel entrance is on the right hand side.

Directions to Hotel Parking: Valet Parking attendants will be available in front of the hotel on Second Avenue from 6:00 a.m to 10:00 p.m. Before 6:00 a.m. and after 10:00 p.m. please proceed to end of Second Avenue and turn right immediately before trolley tracks, ignoring the "Left turn only" signs (it is OK to turn right if turning into the hotel). Proceed down the ramp to the valet desk.

Parking: We offer 24 hour valet parking for hotel and dining guests in front of the hotel main entrance. Overnight parking is $36 for hotel guests. All day parking rate is $42. For shorter visits the first hour is $8, every additional hour is $4.00. The Westgate Room validates parking for two hours at the charge of $4. The Plaza Bar validates parking for one hour at a charge of $4.00. Both outlets' parking will be charged $4 each hour thereafter. Le Fontainebleau Room validates parking for two hours during Sunday Brunch at a charge of $3.00. There is no self parking available.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Registration - We will process submissions on a flow basis. We will send out decision notifications within one week of submission. All proposals are due on the portal on or before January 25, 2017. After receiving the confirmation, you must fill out a registration form (click here for .pdf), and mail the form with a check made out to HERA, in U.S. currency.

Your postmark will be the ultimate determinant of your registration rates. We aim to post an online program in mid-February. Schedule change requests disrupt the plans of those already registered. HERA will not process changes to the program. You must submit your fees to HERA by February 7, 2017 or your name will be deleted from all versions of the program.

All presenters must be members of HERA.

Refunds: Requests for refunds must be made in writing and postmarked no later than February 7, 2017. Email requests for refunds to mgreen@sfsu.edu. A $55 service fee is deducted from all refunds. There will be no refunds for any reason after February 7, 2017. HERA is not responsible for any cancellations or other charges assessed by airlines, travel agents, online booking agencies, or other institutions.
